The Rules
Every participant is required to follow the rules. Failure to follow the rules will result in immediate disqualification from the race. The Committee is known for maintaining strict discipline. We had an ugly incident last year when a runner failed to ask permission to pass a Committee member. Fortunately bribes were given and the incident was happily resolved. Don’t let that be you. Please read all the rules closely and carefully.
- There will be no injuries. You have already won your division so time is not important. Don’t push yourself. It will be hot and humid and you should only physically do whatever is easy for you. This is about having fun. If you are injured you will be immediately disqualified and we will claim to have never seen you before. Although our memories will be restored at breakfast.
- There will be no timing of the race. If you are a fanatic and need to know your time, feel free to time yourself. If you really, really want a time, you will have to wait until one of the committee members arrives at the finish line and they will tell you their time! : (Although it would not hurt to remind The Committee to check the time when they finish – they tend to get so excited about winning that they forget to check.)
- Water will be provided. Based on some shrewd calculating by The Committee, there will be a water stop every 1.5 miles. It happens to be the same water stop because we are looping back and forth – but brilliant nonetheless. If you want any specialty drinks, please bring them along. The wonderful water station volunteers will be happy to safeguard your special energizing drinks. (We are thinking sports drinks here!)
- The most important rule: You cannot pass a Committee member without asking permission. Zipping by a Committee member, especially if they are actually jogging, will be considered a significant breach of ethics. Once asked, the Committee member will typically give permission. However, double looping is expressly forbidden.
- Cheering and encouragement. Cheering for Roswell-tree participants is expected. After all, we are Division Winners!!!
- New Rule!!! You must cross the finish line at least once to win your division. Considering that the finish line is at the start of the race, this should be fairly easy for most people to accomplish.
